Sunday April 5, the Chagpori clinic in Takdah village gave free medicine for flu, cough and fever. It was announced that one person per family could come. All together 169 persons did come.
The local Women association gave out free cotton face masks.
De studenten zijn in april betrokken geweest bij een training voor een eventuele corona uitbraak in de omgeving. De studenten gaan dan het veld in om omgevingsonderzoek te doen. Hiervoor is een specifieke training georganiseerd door de Indiase overheid.
Vanaf 24 maart is de hele staat van West Bengal onder lockdown. Dat betekent dat alle winkels/ al het vervoer/ de staatsgrenzen en dus ook de scholen gesloten zijn. Omdat de studenten intern wonen konden de lessen wel doorgaan. In het dorp Takdah zijn etenswaren uit de regio echter wel verkrijgbaar. In Darjeeling gebied is tot nu toe slechts 1 persoon aan corona overleden. En zij heeft het vanuit het buitenland meegenomen.
Tibetan Medicine is recognized by the Indian Government as a new member of the AYUSH system. At the moment the most important thing for Chagpori is to accomplish the permanent recognition of Chagpori as Sowa Rigpa Medical College by the Ministry of AYUSH, gov. of India. The requirements are to get an affiliation of an Indian University, for which NOC is needed from the Health Department. The NOC from the local government is already processed. With the NOC of the State Government Health Department Chagpori can work on the affiliation with the West Bengal University of Health in Kolkata.
Other requirements are a 10-bedded teaching hospital, a library and museum. These can be fulfilled gradually.
Chagpori needs to upgrade its facilities at the College at the earliest to fullfil the requirements, as per the above guidelines of the Central Council of Indian Medicine. We will be shifting the College to Salugara, as soon as the hostel is build. Than it is possible to have all the requirements as laid down by the CCIM.
Januari 27th Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche and Changling Rinpoche visited the pharmacy in Salugara.

Hij nam ook deel aan het programma van het Boeddhistisch Film Festival Europa in de Eye, Amsterdam. Daar werd de film van dr. Trogawa Rinpoche uit 2002 vertoond en gaven de amchi’s Teinley Trogawa en Nel de Jong vervolgens een lezing met Q&A.

Dr. Teinlay P. Trogawa started his Europe visit from 25th September. He will be visiting Holland, Germany, Austria and France till the beginning of November.

In augustus is de achtste groep studenten naar noord Sikkim geweest voor een educatieve medicinale kruiden tocht onder de leiding van amchi Tenzin Phelgye (hoofd van de apotheek).
Op het ogenblik zijn er 22 studenten verdeeld over 2 klassen. De 7e groep doet haar praktische training en de 8ste groep is in hun 4e jaar.
Chagpori moet haar faciliteiten opwaarderen om aan de voorschriften te voldoen zoals die bepaald zijn door de Central Council of Indian Medicine.
